Michael Huang, MD

I grew up in Littleton, skied in the Rocky Mountains, and have spent the last thirteen years as part of the Colorado Springs community. Colorado shaped me and I've tried to give something back through the way I practice medicine and the standard of care I hold myself to.

That standard begins with training. I completed my sports medicine fellowship at the Steadman-Philippon Clinic in Vail, Colorado; one of the world's foremost centers for complex joint surgery, and the institution where the world's elite athletes go when their careers are on the line. Before Vail, I graduated summa cum laude in neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania, earned my medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, and completed my orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

I specialize in hip preservation surgery (including labral repair and reconstruction, and correction of femoroacetabular impingement) alongside shoulder reconstruction and complex knee surgery. Hip preservation is a subspecialty that most orthopaedic surgeons do not offer. I believe patients in Colorado Springs deserve access to that level of care without traveling to Denver or Vail to find it.

My commitment to the field extends beyond the operating room. I teach hip arthroscopy techniques to other surgeons, present at national and international surgical conferences, and have published peer-reviewed research on hip labral reconstruction and femoroacetabular impingement. I also work directly with implant and device companies in the development and refinement of surgical instruments, devices, and techniques; contributing to innovations that improve outcomes for patients not just here, but across the country.

I believe strongly in exhausting every conservative option before recommending surgery. When surgery is the right choice, I bring everything I learned in Vail and over the past 19 years to the table.

I am now proud to join the team at Colorado Center of Orthopaedic Excellence and am excited to continue to serve the Colorado Springs community I've called home for over a decade.

Outside the office and OR, I am grateful every day for a brilliant wife and two amazing children who remind me why this work matters.
